Russia, India ink agreement on tourism
St. Petersburg (Russia), Oct 7 (IANS) An agreement has been signed to develop an 'India friendly policy' to attract more tourists from India, the Russian Information Center said on Friday.

The agreement was signed between the India-based Center, and Russia-based Visit Russia, National Centre for Marketing Tourism, Union of National and International Tourist Information Organisations of Russia (SONATO) and St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

"The agreement will enable the parties to effectively coordinate the activities to promote Russia as the popular destination in the Indian market," Center co-founder Katerina Belyakova told IANS.

"It will help in evolving a India friendly policy, so that Indian tourists feel at home in Russia," Belyakova said.

"An important part of the agreement is the joint work of the parties over the development and implementation of the tourism and hospitality industry of the India friendly policy," said Paresh Navani of the Russian Information Center.

The framework will be jointly developed by the Russian Information Center in India and the St. Petersburg University of Economics.

"We are looking forward to hosting more Indian tourists in Russia. Our bonds are old and deep, and we are working towards making Russia the most favoured destination for Indians," said Nuria Ermidi, from Akadem Service, a leading tour and travel company in Russia.

Alex Gumball of NIKA travel company spoke on similar lines.

"We are a culturally rich nation, and we have a lot to offer to the tourists. The agreement that has been signed will help in providing best facilities and experience to Indian travellers," he said.
