Act against officers who misbehaved with Ustad Amjad Ali: Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 7 (IANS) Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday asked the state government to take action against Tourism Department officials for their rude behaviour towards renowned sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.

In a press release issued here, Chandy said that it was shocking to hear the manner in which the present state government cancelled his government's decision in 2013 to sanction two acres of land in the capital city to Khan for setting up an international school for music.

"Along with this what has now surfaced is that Khan had to face a rude behaviour from Tourism department officials. This is really a blot for our state. The need of the hour is that the present government should reconsider their decision and see that the land is allotted for the music academy and strict action is taken against those officials for their bad behaviour," he said, adding Khan himself had brought this to the attention of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
