MIAL first Indian airport to bag IGBC 'Platinum' rating
Mumbai, Oct 6 (IANS) The Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL), which administers the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, has bagged the prestigious Platinum rating of the Indian Green Building Certification (IGBC), an official said here on Thursday.

The honour to MIAL -- the first Indian airport to achieve the distinction within the Existing Building (O&M) Rating System -- was given away at the 14th Green Building Congress 2016, held in Mumbai jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry and IGBC at the hands of IGBC Chairman Prem C. Jain.

After an audit of MIAL's T2 Terminal, it was awarded a 94 score, the highest till date, based on performances in Site and Facility Management, Water Efficiency, Energy Efficiency, Health & Comforts, and Innovation.

"MIAL's use of green chemicals for cleaning and addition to rooftop solar power generation at T2 helped us garner the most points under evaluation," said an official.

Earlier in 2014, MIAL's T2 was awarded the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) India Design Gold Rating by the US Green Building Council and IGBC.
