Hong Kong, Oct 6 (IANS) Chinese Internet and technology conglomerate LeEco on Thursday announced that it has sponsored Faraday Futures racing team to debut at the Formula E Hong Kong ePrix on October 9.
The electric car racing team, Faraday Future Dragon Racing, will compete with Mahindra Racing, the only team participating from India at the championship along with eight other teams including Jaguar Land Rover who returns to motorsport after a 12-year absence.
"Starting from Season 3 of Formula E, the two (LeEco and Faraday Future) will work together to develop key solutions to maximise performance capabilities within the vehicle's powertrains," LeEco said in a statement.
In the future, the team will also incorporate more Faraday Future technologies, including software, firmware, motors, gearbox and the FF Echelon Inverter in the racing vehicles.
This is one of the first partnerships between a major racing team and a technology start-up.
