New Delhi, Oct 6 (IANS) NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said here on Thursday it is technology that can help India leapfrog to a growth rate of 9-10 per cent, and added that it will also help in moving towards stable urbanisation.
"India can grow at 9-10 per cent if we use technology to leapfrog to a higher rate. We need to become the most disruptive nation," Kant said at the World Economic Forum's India Economic Summit.
Kant said that the technology needs to be used not to innovate on driverless cars but towards stable urbanisation.
"India needs to build and innovate for sewage, clean water, not for driverless cars. India needs to innovate for Indians. The biggest challenge is that if India needs to get into urbanisation, it needs to be sustainable on the back-up of stable technology," he said.
Kant said that startups can bring vibrancy and delve into newer technology for the same.
He also said that in order to sustain a growth rate of around 8 per cent, apart from a vibrant start-up ecosystem, India needs radical restructuring of health and education sectors.
