Work together to bring normalcy in Kashmir: Congress

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) The Congress on Tuesday urged all political parties to work together to bring normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir rather than blaming one government for the current situation.

"This is the responsibility of every Indian citizen to help Kashmir to come out of the situation, so we must fight in the spirit of co-operation and try to bring normalcy there instead of blaming one government," Delhi Congress unit spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee told IANS.

Mukherjee's remarks came after Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra asked Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti if she considered slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani a terrorist and said that "tourism and terrorism" cannot go together at an event here.

The Congress leader also said that the situation in Kashmir is definitely a matter of great concern and we want that the situation there becomes normal as soon as possible.

The Kashmir valley has remained shut for 88 consecutive days following the encounter of Burhan Wani on July 8. Eighty seven civilians have been killed and nearly 12,000 -- including civilians and security forces -- injured in clashes.
