Two members of child trafficking gang arrested, minor girl rescued

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS) Two members of a child trafficking gang were arrested here and a minor kidnapped girl rescued from their clutches, police said on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Sanjay Rai, from Bihar's Motihari district, and Vinod Kumar, a resident of Netaji Nagar in Delhi.

Police said the 14-year-old girl, 14, a resident of Sarojni Nagar in south Delhi, was kidnapped on August 30 by Vinod when she was going home from tuition. Vinod told victim that her father had met with an accident and he had sent him to take her to hospital.

Police said Vinod later handed her to four youth waiting in a car and they drove her to Labladpur village in Madhuban district of Bihar.

"Police registered a case following a complaint given by victim's father on September 2 in Sarojini Nagar police station that his daughter did not come home after leaving the tution centre on August 30," said a senior police officer.

"During investigation, police found that the victim on September 28 made a call to her father and informed him that she had was being held captive somewhere in Bihar. Police traced the location of phone in Labladpur village at Bihar with the help of surveillance and rescued the minor while arresting Vinod and Sanjay," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, Ishwar Singh.

He said Sanjay had also forcefully married her. Sanjay revealed that a woman, Sukho Devi, is also involved.
