Gurpreet Sandhu’s former coach Bradley now Swansea head coach

Kolkata, Oct 4 (IANS) When football coach Bob Bradley became first head coach of an English Premier League side, replacing sacked Francesco Guidolina at Swansea City, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, India's No.1 goalkeeper, was a happy man.

After all, it was under Bradley that Sandhu scripted history by becoming the first Indian footballer to play for a top-tier European club at Norwegian club Stabaek FC against IL Runar last year in April.

Bradley joined Stabaek FC in January 2014 helping the club qualify for the Europa league in 2015.

"I think he is one of the best coaches I have worked under," Sandhu told IANS on Tuesday.

"I was lucky enough to play two seasons under him. I learnt so much about the game and it broadened my way of looking and playing the game I think.

"It's such a good thing for him that he is getting to coach in one of the best leagues in the world. He deserves it," Sandhu said.

Bradley, 58, will take over a Swansea side which has lost its past three league matches and find themselves above the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Guidolin has been under intense pressure -- which was increased by Saturday's 1-2 home defeat against Liverpool -- and his sacking was announced on his 61st birthday on Monday.
