They said one of its members identified as Guddu Singh, 39, a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on Monday from Khajoori Khas area of Northeast district. Eight improvised semi-automatic pistols with as many magazines were recovered from his possession.
According to police, the gang had recently got a Rs 1-crore contract to kill a person in Baghpat and had taken half the amount in advance. The planning for the contract killing was being done by Suresh and Mohit, the key members of the gang.
"Guddu arranged weapons, which were to be used for the killing, from his old contact Shamshed in Kolkata, while Mohit was tasked to arrange one more person, who could provide them a car to use in the crime," a senior police officer said.
Police arrested Guddu after a tip-off that he would be coming to Khajoori Khas area to supply firearms to one of his aides.
During the interrogation, he revealed that he was previously involved in over half-a-dozen cases of murder and other serious crimes.
