Two persons killed as lorry hits motorcycle

Kolkata, Oct 2 (IANS) Two persons were killed and another was seriously injured when their motorcycle was hit by a lorry here in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.

The accident took place in front of Sovabazar Metro station in north Kolkata.

"At around 12.10 a.m. a bike with three riders was hit by a lorry. Two riders were killed on the spot in the accident while another was severely injured," an officer from Bartala police station said.

According to the police, the motorcycle riders were not wearing helmets and were under the influence of alcohol.

The injured has been hospitalised and stable.

The lorry driver has been arrested.
