Pakistani artistes should not be linked to terror, says Moily

New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) Senior Congress leader M. Veerappa Moily on Saturday flayed the criticism of Pakistani artistes for not commenting or condemning the Uri attack.

"This is not their job....art is their job," Moily told Times Now TV channel when asked that some of these Pakistani artists working in Indian film industry have not condemned the Uri attack that left 19 Indian soldiers dead.

The former Union Minister said any stand being taken by a section of people including film stars in the Bollywood against such artistes is uncalled for.

"In what way they (Pakistani artists) are connected to terrorism? Artistes are artistes. It is the question of humanity.

"Any country they are born, they are artistes. I don't think any country should target the artistes and that includes also India," Moily added.

A major row has erupted after the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association on Thursday decided to ban Pakistani artistes from working in Indian movies.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on Friday questioned the campaign against Pakistani actors working in India, saying they were not terrorists.

In Mumbai, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was the first to ask Pakistani artistes to leave India.
