Delhi takes to streets to hail anti-terror strikes

New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS) Patriotic fervour ran high among the people of Delhi as they took to the streets on Thursday night to celebrate the anti-terror "surgical strikes" by the Indian Army.

Several groups of bikers were seen at different points in central Delhi, waving the Indian flag, playing "dhols" and raising slogans to celebrate the army attack on the terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control.

Similar sights were seen at Connaught Place, India Gate and elsewhere in the national capital on Thursday night.

"We saw several people on bikes, who were shouting slogans, praising Bharat Mata around Akshardham temple and DND Flyway. We let them go, as we understand people's emotions. Moreover, they did not do any improper act," a Delhi Traffic Police official told IANS.

In the early hours of Thursday, Indian Army commandos attacked several terrorist launch pads, killing around 36 terrorists, according to reports. The strike has since been denied by Pakistan, though.

The commandos were reportedly air-dropped close to the LoC and they struck at seven terrorist launch pads 2-3 km inside the Pakistan-held territory.
