Pakistan aiding, abetting terrorists for long: Naidu

New Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said the Indian Army had carried out cross-border surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads in "five-six areas", and added that the operation was to foil attempts by Pakistan that has been "aiding, abetting, funding and training terrorists for long".

Briefing reporters, Naidu said the Indian Army took the initiative of striking terrorist launch pads across the border as "the other side was testing our patience".

The minister said the operation was a "coordinated effort" and that details of the surgical operation would be known later. "They (army officers) have all come back and will be reaching their headquarters, and then the details will be known."

"Now Pakistan has been made aware that in future we will not tolerate such incidents," he said.

"The operation was made in order to foil the attempts of the neighbour, which has been aiding, abetting, funding, training terrorists for long. This is in response to what they have done in recent days and what they were planning to do in future also."

Naidu said the entire country is "very happy about the swift action taken the Indian Army under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The country has conveyed to Pakistan that such actions will not be tolerated."

To a question that Pakistan has denied the surgical strikes, Naidu said "What else can they say?"
