New Delhi, Sep 27 (IANS) The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) said on Tuesday that it has partnered with multinational electronics company Thale for a Phd fellowship programme to facilitate scientific collaboration between India and France.
Thales, an electronics major in the field of defense and aerospace, signed an MoU to conduct research in both countries under the management of an Indian and a French supervisor respectively from the IIT-D and from one of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) laboratories in France.
Upto four students will be selected in the first batch to conduct reserch in research in advanced electronics, electromagnetics and complex systems engineering.
Thales had earlier partnered with IISC, Bangalore and IIT, Bombay in last two years, respectively, to the same end.
"France is a country synonymous with creativity and innovation, and is at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies. We are delighted that brilliant Indian students choose to study in France and we wish to welcome many more.
"The Thales IIT Delhi-CNRS PhD fellowship programme is another testament to the robust scientific cooperation that is such an essential part of the excellent bilateral relations between France and India," French Ambassador to India Alexandre Ziegler said in the statement.
IIT-D Director V. Ramgopal Rao said: "We are delighted to collaborate with Thales as it will provide an opportunity to our students access to industry leading technologies in some of the finest academic laboratories in India and France."
Thales is a global technology leader for the aerospace, transport, defence and security markets, with 62,000 employees in 56 countries. It is present in India since 1953.
