Rio de Janeiro, Sep 26 (IANS) Six-time champions Flamengo scored two late goals for a 2-1 victory over Cruzeiro in Brazil's Serie A championship.
Cruzeiro took the lead in the 74th minute through a Rafinha strike but Peru striker Paolo Guerrero equalised with a long-range effort six minutes from time on Sunday," reports Xinhua.
Federico Mancuello then gave Flamengo the lead in the 89th minute to hand Flamengo their 16th win of the campaign at the Kleber Andrade stadium in Vitoria.
The Rio de Janeiro outfit are second in the standings, a point behind Palmeiras, who beat Coritiba 2-1 on Saturday.
In other matches, Atletico Paranaense defeated Ponte Preta 3-0, Figueirense overcame Santa Cruz 3-1, Fluminense won 1-0 at Corinthians, Gremio edged out Chapecoense 1-0, Vitoria beat Sao Paulo 2-0 and Atletico Mineiro defeated Internacional 3-1.
