Niall Horan turns mascot for Europe’s Ryder Cup golf team

London, Sep 25 (PTI) One Direction star Niall Horan will assist Europe's Ryder Cup golf team in an ambassadorial role when they take on the US later this month.

The continent's finest golfers are set to do battle with an American team at Hazeltine National Golf Club, Minnesota from September 30 to October 2.

And Horan, who started his own golf management agency after taking a break from One Direction, will be taking on a role helping the Europeans during the bi-annual match, reported Daily Star.

"I think I'm going to be involved with the Ryder Cup team to try to do a bit for them and help them concentrate on their golf," Horan said.

In addition to helping the team the singer is acting as an ambassador for the event and will participate in a celebrity match held over 9-holes before the real action begins.

Other stars among those playing are actor and golf fanatic Bill Murray, legendary Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, actor Kurt Russell and soccer stars Andriy Shevchenko and Alessandro Del Piero.
