Youth killed in security force firing in Baramulla district

Srinagar, Sep 23 (IANS) A youth was killed in security force firing on a mob in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday.

The police said Waseem Lone, 22, was killed in Ladoora area of Baramulla district in firing by an army patrol when a mob pelted stones at them.

The young man belonged to Nadihal village of Baramulla district.

With the youth's death, the civilian toll in the ongoing cycle of violence in Kashmir has risen to 87.

Clashes also occurred after the Friday prayers between stone-throwing mobs in south Kashmir's Kokernag town and at two places in north Kashmir's Bandipora district.

Over two dozen people were injured in these clashes.

To prevent separatist-called protests and rallies, authorities had imposed restrictions at many places in Srinagar city and other parts of the Kashmir Valley in addition to heavy deployments of the police and CRPF at law and order sensitive places.

Kashmir remained shut for 77th consecutive day on Friday because of restrictions imposed by the authorities and protest shutdowns called by the separatists.
