PM condoles deaths in Madhubani, Attari accidents, announces relief

New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS) The Prime Minister's Office on Friday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the persons killed in the Madhubani (Bihar) and Attari (Punjab) bus accidents.

It also announced payment of Rs 50,000 each to the seriously injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

"The Prime Minister is grieved to learn about the loss of lives and injuries sustained by the persons in the bus accidents of Madhubani in Bihar and of Attari in Punjab. He has sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the persons deceased, and Rs 50,000 each to the seriously injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund," an official release said.

At least 32 people were killed when a bus fell into a deep pond near Basaith village under Benipatti police station in Madhubani district of Bihar on September 19.

At least six children were reported killed and 17 others injured when a school bus fell into a canal at Mahawa near Attari in Punjab on September 20.

The accident took place when the school bus, carrying 37 students, was passing over a narrow bridge.
