Barcelona, Sep 22 (IANS) FC Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta said on Thursday he is waiting to set up a meeting with the Catalan football side's board of directors to begin talks about renewing his contract, which ends in the summer of 2018.
"I want to end my career with Barcelona; I have a contract until 2018. You will have to ask those in charge when it's my turn to renew," the midfielder told Cadena COPE radio on Thursday, a day after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
Iniesta, 32, said he understands that the board is currently busy with signing Argentine striker Lionel Messi, whose contract ends in two years, noting that he only wants to discuss the issue with the Catalan club officials.
On the draw with Atletico at Camp Nou stadium here, the Barcelona captain said they had a jam-packed game against a tough opponent with strong defence, adding that it was a pity to drop points in a home match.
