Apollo Medical College permitted to admit MBBS students

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (IANS) The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday granted permission to Apollo Medical College (Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences & Research) for admission of students to the MBBS course for the academic year 2016-17.

The college, a dream project of Apollo Hospitals group, was started with the mission of bringing health care of international standards to Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, said a statement by the group.

The Apollo Medical College will have a 320-bedded government district headquarters hospital as the teaching hospital under a unique Public- Private Partnership (PPP) model with the Andhra Pradesh government.

The hospital has been upgraded with modern facilities as per Medical Council of India (MCI) norms and will benefit not only the rural poor of Chittoor district but also thousands of people from surrounding areas, with quality health care, the statement said.
