New Delhi, Sep 21 (IANS) A man alleged to have duped people of several crores of rupees and who was absconding for the last eight years has been arrested, police said on Wednesday.
Satish Chaudhary, 56, a notorious inter-state cheat, was nabbed by the Crime Branch sleuths from Sadaura in Haryana on Sunday.
"A high-profile conman, a proclaimed offender and a calculating cheat, duped people of several crore of rupees and was on the run for last eight years," Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav said.
"Taking a leaf out of Bollywood, he carried out a spate of cheating assignments targeting disputed large factories, which had defaulted in loan payments and were on the verge of being sold off by court appointed liquidators," Yadav added.
"He would prepare the documents which seemed more genuine than the original ones. He would assemble his team that was always different from the previous one and arrange buyers for the property," Yadav noted.
