Nice (France), Sep 20 (IANS) Serena Williams' coach Patrick Mouratoglou has officially unveiled his new tennis academy at Sophia-Antipolis, 20 kilometres west of here.
The Mouratoglou Tennis Academy, located in the heart of the French Riviera, emerged as a unique 12 hectares complex after two years of construction, the largest one among its peers in Europe, reports Xinhua.
With a capacity to train more than 3,000 players a year, the academy combines advanced sporting facilities, a medical center and a four-star hotel resort.
Serena Williams, 21-times Grand Slam winner, and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, were both present among more than 1,200 guests for the opening ceremony on Monday.
Mouratoglou, 46, took over coaching Serena in 2012, when the top American female player suffered her only first-round exit from a major at Roland Garros.
Serena had stayed on top of the WTA rankings for more than three years before being overtaken by Germany's Angelique Kerber a week ago.
