Sunday terror attack sponsored by Pakistan: Former Army Chief

New Delhi, Sep 18 (IANS) Former Chief of Army Staff Gen. Bikram Singh (retd) on Sunday said the terror attack on an army camp in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir was sponsored by Pakistan.

Singh said the guns and other weapons used by the terrorists were "actually supplied by Pakistan" and were something "which are not available off the shelf", as he spoke to TV news channel TimesNow.

Allaying any doubts about the involvement of the neighbouring country, Singh said the terror attack "was supported and sponsored by Pakistan establishment".

He echoed what Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh said about some of the weapons bearing Pakistan marking and said there was no doubt as Pakistan has been doing it for the past 20 years.

He referred to the responses from Ministers which came in the wake of the attack as "an important strategic shift vis-a-vis Pakistan".
