Singapore, Sep 18 (IANS) Nico Rosberg led from beginning to end to win the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday and re-take the lead of the Formula One Drivers' World Championship from his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
The Mercedes driver had to battle hard to stay ahead of Red Bull's Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo who charged hard in the last few laps to come in second, just 0.488 seconds behind, reports Efe.
Hamilton was third, 8.038 seconds behind as the Briton fell eight points behind Rosberg in the drivers' standings with six events to go.
Kimi Raikkonen led his teammate Sebastian Vettel across to the line as Ferrari claimed fourth and fifth positions. Vettel had started from the back of the grid after not being able to participate in qualifying after suffering a fault.
Max Verstappen finished sixth in his Red Bull, ahead of the Spaniard Fernando Alonso in a McLaren.
The race was interrupted early when a dramatic crash right after the start saw Nico Hulkenberg crash into the wall before reaching the first corner.
The safety car came out immediately and Jenson Button's McLaren had to go into the pits to repair damage on the front wing while Valtteri Bottas' Williams had a left-rear puncture most likely from contact between the two cars.
The safety car went in on lap three.
