Ex-Labour leader warns against re-electing Jeremy Corbyn

London, Sep 18 (IANS) Former Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock has cautioned against the re-election of incumbent chief Jeremy Corbyn warning that it may lead to a split in the party, a media report said on Sunday.

"Unless things change radically, and rapidly, it's very doubtful I'll see another Labour government in my lifetime," Kinnock, who headed the party from 1983 to 1992, said in an interview to the BBC.

"Not just in my lifetime but stretching back to the 1930s, by any examination this is the greatest crisis that the Labour Party has faced," he added.

Labour is set to announce whether Corbyn or Pontypridd MP Owen Smith have won the leadership contest in less than a week.

Corbyn has appealed to Labour MPs to "come together" after the contest.
