Rajasthan celebrates Eid

Jaipur, Sep 13 (IANS) The Eid was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiams across Rajasthan on Tuesday. Competitive bidding for the sacrificial goat set a new record of price in the state as the animal was sold online.

The main Eid prayer was offered in the Eid-gah on the outskirts of Jaipur where over three lakh devotees participated. The Eid prayers were offered in other parts of the city as well as in towns and other cities across the state.

 

People greeted one another after the morning prayers.

The sacrificial goat continued to be sold till late Monday night and some farmers from the state even sold the animal online.

The Eid was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Ajmer, too, where the Dargah Sharif of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is situated.

Heavy rush was witnessed in the morning to pass through the Jannati Darwaza (gateway to paradise) at the Dargah Sharif to seek blessings. This Darwaza is opened only four times in a year.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje greeted people in a tweet on the Eid and said, "Greetings on the occasion of Eid ul Adha. May this festival strengthen brotherhood and bring peace and joy to all."

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "I extend my warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Eid. The auspicious festival reminds us of selfless sacrifice and inspires us to serve the humanity and mitigate the suffering of the poor and needy."
