14-year-old boy missing for one year found in Jammu

New Delhi Sep 13 (IANS) A 14-year-old boy, missing for the last one year, was rescued by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police from Jammu, police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the boy, a resident of Shahbad Dairy area in outer Delhi, had run away from his home in August, 2015 as he did not want to study.

"We rescued the boy from Jammu on September 8," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav told reporters.

The boy's father Charanjit Singh had filed a missing report in 2015.

"Our team was able to trace and rescue him on the basis of a missed call on his parents phone in August, 2016," the officer added.

The officer said that the boy had left for Vaishno Devi in a bus in 2015 without informing his parents and then roamed around in the area. "A local named Kailash, who is in the business of transporting devotees to Vaishno Devi Shrine on mules and horses, took the boy to his house," the officer said.

"The boy has said that he was not maltreated by Kailash, who gave him shelter," the officer said.
