The statement by UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) cited figures disclosed by North Korean authorities, adding that the floods also displaced around 1,07,000 persons.
Heavy rains at the beginning of this month led to immense floods in the northern provinces of North Korea bordering China, EFE news reported.
On September 7, Pyongyang authorities reported 60 dead and 25 missing due to floods.
The floods also inundated over 35,500 houses, 69 per cent of which may have been completely destroyed, besides 8,700 public buildings, including schools.
