Student dies, 28 injured as wall collapses in Odisha school

Bhubaneswar, Sep 8 (IANS) A girl student was killed and 28 others were injured in a wall collapse at a private school in Odisha's Puri district, an official said on Thursday.

The dilapidated wall fell when students of Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir at Basukera in Sakhigopal went to get their bicycles from a shed, trapping them under the debris, said the official.

"One girl student died in the incident. Thirteen students were admitted to the Sakhigopal Community Health Centre while 15 others were shifted to a hospital in state capital Bhubaneswar."

Two of the injured students have been referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated," said School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.

He said the state government will bear all expenses of the treatment of the injured students.

District Collector Arvind Agarwal ordered a probe by the District Education Officer into the matter.
