Mumbai, Sep 8 (IANS) "Swaragini" actress Parineeta Borthakur, also a popular singer from Assam, recalled her experience of singing with Assamese music maestro Bhupen Hazarika on his 90th birth anniversary on Thursday.
Parineeta heaped praise on the late singer, popular for songs like "Dil hoom hoom kare", "Ganga amar ma" and "Hey dola hey dola".
"Bhupen Hazarika is a legendary singer, composer and lyricist from Assam. His music has contributed so much to Assam as well as the world. There hasn't been any social or emotional topic on which he has not written and composed a song," the actress said in a statement.
"His songs are so soulful that I can feel them from my heart. I had the pleasure to sing on the same stage with him when I was in class nine. Many of his songs have been translated into Bengali or Hindi. I am sure, like me, many of us miss him and his creations."
Hazarika died at the age of 85 on November 5, 2011.
