HC judgment on parliamentary secretaries confirms AAP anarchy: BJP

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) The BJP said on Thursday that the Delhi High Court's order quashing the appointment of 21 parliamentary secretaries was a confirmation of the "anarchic behaviour" of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and demanded the resignations of the AAP legislators concerned.

The party also said that it will not allow the Delhi assembly to function till the Kejriwal government gave a statement on the issue and the 21 MLAs concerned resigned from the assembly.

"Subsequent to the high court judgment on the administrative controversy between the Lt. Governor (Najeeb Jung) and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, this judgment will be seen as a confirmation of the charges of anarchic behaviour by Kejriwal," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi unit President Satish Upadhyay told reporters here.

"Whatever the Kejriwal government has done in the case of parliamentary secretaries is a criminal conspiracy and we have apprised the Election Commission about it," Upadhyay said.

The High Court on Thursday quashed the appointment of 21 parliamentary secretaries after the Aam Aadmi Party government conceded that the Lt. Governor's approval was not taken in the matter.

The BJP leader alleged that the national capital region had been pushed into an administrative crisis, adding that it was regrettable that the Chief Minister who created this crisis is now trying to mislead the people of Punjab.

"The BJP will ensure that the people of Punjab expose Kejriwal vis-a-vis his misdeeds in every nook and corner of the state," he added.

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta said that after coming to power in Delhi, Kejriwal was not politically stable as his party was divided into various groups.

"Today's verdict of the High Court is a warning by the judiciary against his arbitrariness," Gupta said.

"We will not allow the assembly to function till the government gives a statement (on the issue) and the 21 MLAs resign from the assembly," Gupta said.

He said the BJP leaders will soon meet the Election Commission and hand over a copy of the High Court judgment and request the panel to announce its decision on the disqualification of 21 parliamentary secretaries.
