Agar Malwa (Madhya Pradesh), Sep 8 (IANS) Over 200 people were taken ill late on Wednesday after eating 'khichadi' served as prasad at a temple in Madhya Pradesh's Agar Malwa district, an official said on Thursday.
Most of the people are on way to recovery, officials said.
Sushner SDM, G.S. Dabar told to IANS on Thursday that the people had consumed the prasad during a religious event organised at the Devnarayan temple in Damdam village.
"Hundreds of people from adjoining villages and devotees had gathered in large number at the temple to participate in a fair being held alongside. Prasad made of khichadi and nukti (mixed fruits) was served to the gathering," he said.
"Some devotees started vomiting in the evening and 207 complained of stomach ache. A team of doctors reached the spot. During the night-long treatment, 15 people were referred to nearby hospitals for treatment. Most of the people have shown signs of recovery, while a few are still under treatment," the SDM said.
