Kolkata, Sep 7 (IANS) At least five persons were arrested as an illegal gun factory was busted on Wednesday in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, police said.
The police also seized over 100 guns and nine kg of explosives after it raided a house in Rabindranagar area where the factory was being operated, it said.
"We have arrested five people including Aftab Hussain, in whose house the factory was operated. We have seized 101 firearms including 95 single barrel pipe guns and nine kg of explosives," Superintendent of police Sunil Kumar Choudhary said.
Of the five, four hail from Bihar while another is from Basanti area in the district.
According to the police, Hussain and his men assembled the guns here and used to sell them in West Bengal and Bihar.
"So far we have got information that the guns were supplied in South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas and Kolkata as well as in some parts of Bihar. We are investigating if the guns were supplied to any other parts of the country," said Choudhary.
