Modi to flag off Haryana’s golden jubilee celebrations

Gurgaon, Sep 5 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long celebrations of Haryana's golden jubilee on November 1 from here, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Monday.

He said on that day, the process to set up the Gurgaon Development Authority (GDA) would begin and Gurgaon would be developed as a Super Smart City for which a Rs 500 crore project would be implemented.

Khattar told reporters here that Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari would launch a project on that day to construct underpasses or flyovers at IFFCO Chowk to ease traffic congestion on the national highway 8 connecting Delhi and Gurgaon, Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk in Gurgaon.

He said a Real Estate Regulatory Bill would soon be notified and construction of Manesar to Kundli expressway would begin this month.

The Chief Minister said Gurgaon is among those five cities that have been chosen for implementing start-ups for employment, and a start-up warehouse incubation centre would also be made functional there.

In reply to a question, he said there was a plan to have metro rail service from Sector 22 in Dwarka to IFFCO Chowk and between HUDA City Centre and Sohna Road.

A smart grid project has been prepared to supply electricity round-the-clock to Gurgaon, he added.
