Mane boost for Liverpool

London, Sep 5 (IANS) English football club Liverpool can breathe easy after concerns about winger Sadio Mane's fitness were put to rest after he returned from the international break unscathed.

There had been fears that the Senegal forward had sustained an injury after being substituted in the 66th minute of his country's win over Namibia in an African Nations Cup qualifier on Sunday, according to ESPN FC.

However, the 24-year-old reported at Liverpool's Melwood training ground on Monday morning as expected and has no fitness or injury problems, the report added.

The Liverpool Echo reported that manager Jurgen Klopp had been so concerned about Mane that he phoned him on Sunday to check whether his substitution was injury-related.

Mane, a 30 million pound ($39.9 million) summer signing from Southampton, will be available for Liverpool's first home game of the season against champions Leicester City.
