Jorge Jesus wanted to leave Sporting Lisbon a month after his arrival

Lisbon, Sep 4 (IANS) Sporting Lisbon coach Jorge Jesus admits that he thought about resigning from his post at the Portuguese capital side barely one month after assuming charge at the helm, but says the confidence demonstrated by the club's president Bruno de Carvalho reassured him.

In an interview published by newspaper Record on Sunday, Jesus explained that the team's structure which he used to manage back then did not make him feel safe, reports Efe.

The Portuguese coach added that Bruno de Carvalho facilitated all what he wanted after he arrived from rival Benfica after six year of success.

Jesus praised Lisbon's president and pointed out that he helped him to change many aspects about the club's soccer team.

On his first year as Sporting's manager, Jesus managed to lead the Lions to the Portuguese Super Cup title, and will lead the team in the Champions League this year after finishing as runner ups behind Benfica in the Primeira Liga.
