Modi arrives in Hangzhou for G20

Hangzhou, Sep 3 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the Chinese city of Hangzhou late on Saturday night to attend the G20 Summit, that will also see him meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the multilateral event.

The two-day summit begins on Sunday.

Modi's bilateral with US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the G20 may not happen.

Modi reached China's eastern city Hangzhou after a bilateral visit to Vietnam.

During his meet with President Xi, Modi is expected to try to convince China to back India's membership bid for the Nuclear Suppliers Group which was blocked by Beijing in June.

A meeting of BRICS leaders is also slated for Sunday morning.
