Raza, K.G. Subramanyan’s works to go under hammer

New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS) Works of masters like S.H. Raza, K.G. Subramanyan, F.N. Souza, Tyeb Mehta and M.F. Husain, among others, will go under the hammer here on Saturday.

Organised by Art Deal auction house, the epic collection will have 98 lots, including miniatures that are over 100 years old.

One of the star attractions will be S.H. Raza's 'Tadpan' and 'Bindu- Panchtatva' (both acrylic on canvas) and an early impressionist landscape on paper by the legendary artist, priced at Rs 70,00,000 - Rs 80,00,000. A large aluminium sculpture by Raza is another attraction.

Four works of the revered artist K.G. Subramanyan, will be up for auction too. In these works, human figures are seen interacting with mythological creatures. Humans are morphed with animal features and all figurations are stylistically distorted.

The auction also boasts of works by Husain, which is a collage of photographs of some moments in his life complemented with texts. The show stopper is the highest priced at Rs 1,00,00,000 - Rs 1,50,00,000.

Then there are impressive nudes by Akbar Padamsee and Krishna Hawlaji Ara. Two stunning still life works depicting blooming flora in vases by Ara, one of his favourite themes shall also go under the hammer.

The auction also offers works by eminent Bengal Masters like Jamini Roy, Abanindranath Tagore, Ramkinkar Baij and Nandalal Bose apart from Manjit Bawa, Ramkumar, B Prabha, Anjolie Ela Menon, Paresh Maity, as well as Pablo Picasso, among others.
