Nine security personnel killed in Iraq attack

Baghdad, Sep 2 (IANS) At least nine security personnel were killed and 24 injured on Friday when Iraqi forces repelled an Islamic State (IS) attack in Salahudin province, police said.

Dozens of IS militants attacked a military base housing army and paramilitary units in Mettiebeja area of the province, Xinhua news agency quoted a source as saying.

The troops managed to repel the attack, the source said.
