Mumbai, Sep 2 (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will felicitate Rio Olympics silver medallist P.V. Sindhu on Tuesday, the Maharashtra Badminton Association announced on Friday.
Shuttler Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win a silver medal in the women's singles at the Olympics in the Rio Games as she added another landmark moment in her young and storied career that already has two bronze medals at badminton World Championships.
President of the Maharashtra Association Arun Lakhani said: "We are delighted to host P.V. Sindhu in Maharashtra since her arrival from Brazil. On behalf of the entire badminton fraternity, I would like to congratulate her etching herself in the history of Indian badminton.
"I am certain her feat will inspire several youngsters to take up badminton professionally. I would also like to congratulate and thank her coach, Pulela Gopichand for always being there for any young shuttler who is looking for guidance and help. His contribution to the sport cannot go unnoticed."
