Patna, Sep 2 (IANS) The flood-hit people of Bihar's Bhagalpur district on Friday pasted posters of their local Lok Sabha MP as "Missing" and announced a reward of Rs 500 in cash to those who would locate his address, police said.
The flood-affected people in Bhagalpur have plastered the town with posters of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal with the caption "Missing", a district police official said.
In the posters, the flood victims have said that they have been struggling for survival due to floods for the last three weeks but their MP Bulo Mandal has had no time to visit them even once to enquire about their pain, distress and miseries.
"We have voted and elected him as MP but he has gone missing at the time of crisis like floods," the flood victims said.
Lalu Prasad's RJD is part of the Bihar's ruling grand alliance with JD-U and Congress.
In August, flood victims in Khagaria district pasted posters of their local Lok Sabha MP in the town as "Missing" and announced reward of 2 kg "chura" (beaten rice) and 500 gm "sattu" (roasted gram powder) to those who would locate his address.
Chaudhury Mehboob Ali Kaiser is an MP of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), an ally of Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.
According to reports, people in half a dozen flood-hit districts are unhappy with their local MPs and MLAs who have neither visited their constituencies nor sent any help.
At least 40 people have been killed and nearly 38 lakh are affected in the Bihar floods with many areas, specially the riverine belt of 12 districts, submerged.
Though floodwaters are receding fast, more than 3.5 lakh flood victims are still in relief camps set up by the government.
