Mel C wants Spice Girls to be remembered for ‘incredible achievements’

London, Aug 31 (IANS) Singer Melanie C, popularly known as Mel C, has opened up about her decision to turn down Spice Girls's 20th-anniversary reunion tour. She says the popular pop group should be remembered for their "incredible achievements" and people should not ask her about a reunion as it's "exhausting".

In an essay penned for Love Magazine, Mel C revealed she definitely won't be joining Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown (Mel B) and Victoria Adams for a reunion show anytime soon, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"The fascination with the band never seems to go away. It's a blessing and a curse all at the same time. Daily I'm asked 'Are the girls getting back together?' Then it's 'When? How? Why?' When we reunited in 2007, the questions stopped momentarily. We had done it - the fans were happy and we were happy. But the minute that tour ended, it started again," she said.

"Look, I will be a Spice Girl until I die. But the continuous speculation on whether we will reform to celebrate 20 years of 'Wannabe' has been particularly exhausting. Don't get me wrong - I totally get it. But is it a new rule that bands have to reform? Why can't we just be remembered for our incredible achievements in the nineties," she added.

Mel C shared that when the group united on the reunion tour it was "amazing, scary and surreal".

"The five of us back together again. Like we'd stepped back in time for a global celebration of the band," she said.
