Four injured by PKK attack in Turkey

Ankara, Aug 26 (IANS) Four people including two police officers were wounded by an attack by the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in eastern Turkish city of Van on Thursday, Dogan News Agency reported.

The attack occurred at 22:00 local time when the PKK militants fired at the police department in the city centre, leaving four people injured, Xinhua reported.

Meanwhile, another attack was carried out by the PKK militants in the province of Artvin, targeting the convoy of main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu, said Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala.

Security forces have launched anti-terror operations in the region, causing one Turkish soldier was killed, local media reported.

Over 600 members of Turkish security forces and thousands of PKK members have been killed in clashes inside Turkey and in northern Iraq since July 2015, while Turkish forces have killed over 7,000 PKK militants.
