Bora has been appointed following the death of former Congress state unit president Anjan Dutta, who died following cardiac arrest in New Delhi on June 16.
Bora was the vice-president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. He is a former minister in Assam government and currently a Rajya Sabha member.
