Led by state Congress President Raj Babbar, who was accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Pramod Tiwari, SC/ST Commission Chairman P.L. Punia and other state leaders, the yatra was given a grand welcome in the parliamentary constituency of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
Raj Babbar, in his address, said that it was from here that late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had started the Quit India movement against the British and now they were here to seek the blessings of the people to boot out the corrupt and lawless parties like the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He also detailed many welfare schemes of the Congress which ensured that India took giant strides in all fields and emerged as a developed nation.
Crediting Nehru for the new age India and late Rajiv Gandhi for the communication revolution, the Congress leaders said time has come to bring the Congress back to power in Uttar Pradesh so that the time lost in 27 years is covered and the state zips through the fast lane of development and prosperity.
