Railways sign agreement for management education of personnel

New Delhi, Aug 19 (IANS) Indian Railways on Friday said it has entered into an agreement with Maharaja Sayajirao (MS) University, based in Vadodara, for enabling its probationary officers to pursue management education.

According to the Railway Ministry, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) and MS University for award of MBA (Masters of Business Administration) degree in specific railway fields was signed this week in the presence of Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu.

"NAIR has signed an MoU with MS University for award of MBA degree in specific railway fields to railway probationary officers belonging to Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) and Indian Railway Store Service (IRSS)," the ministry said in a statement.

"The programme will start from August, 2016 itself."

NAIR, Vadodara in Gujarat is the apex level training institute of Indian Railways for imparting training to its officers.

"This formal tie-up will also enables university to select students at their end for MBA along with Railway officers," the statement added.
