Lucknow, Aug 19 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh government has allotted 1.62 hectares of land for establishing a state-of-the-art design institute to boost the micro, small and medium industries sector here, an official said on Friday.
The Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design (UPID) will be located in Hariharpur village under Sarojininagar administration of Lucknow district.
Principal Secretary of Micro, Small and Medium Scale Industries Rajneesh Dubey said that once the institute is set up, it would give another dimension to the design sector.
The institute will train artists keeping in line with the current international trends that will help improve trained manpower in the field.
The UPID is being set up under the guidance of Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design, while its website has been created by Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation (UPDESCO).
The website designed on the basis of Responsive Design Technology is available both in Hindi and English. It can be accessed through desktops, laptops and mobile phones. The website is expected to be a milestone of sort in the future, Dubey said.
