Modi’s Balochistan remark aimed at hiding Kashmir atrocities: Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 18 (IANS) Pakistan on Thursday termed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent statement on Balochistan as an "unsuccessful attempt to hide Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir".

Referring to Modi's August 15 speech, Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakariya said: "Balochistan is a crucial part of Pakistan."

He added: "Pakistani people are victim of Indian intelligence agencies' subversive activities."

Referring to the arrest of alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadav in Balochistan, the spokesperson said: "Kulbhushan and his network was involved in spreading terrorism and destabilising activities in Karachi and Balochistan."

Modi sparked controversy when in his Independence Day speech he said that Pakistan was a supporter of "terrorism" and that the people of Balochistan, Gilgit and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir had thanked him in the past few days for support.
