Gurgaon, Aug 17 (IANS) After this posting of nearly two years, I leave a satisfied man...satisfied that I touched lives of the men on the street, knowingly and unknowingly, and richer in experience, said outgoing Commissioner of Police Navdeep Singh Virk on Wednesday in his goodbye message to Gurgaon.
A 1994 batch IPS officer, Virk, said "Nothing endures more than change. It is inevitable. That's why it is, now, time for me to move on to newer challenges that duty presents. This time, as IGP, Rohtak Range."
He said, "Whether it was the launch of our community policing programme or the car-free day experiment or even Udaan initiative, you and me, we became partners in fighting crime, with the sole agenda of making a difference and being the change."
"So, as I prepare to leave, the one single takeaway from my stint as Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, has been creating the people-police bond in Gurgaon. I like to believe that we all understand each other a little more, a little better."
"We have, together, come a long way and the joy, for me, lies in manner we have travelled together. For all the cooperation and for your unflinching support, I want to say a big thank you to all of you. Needless to say, while I move on, I take with me the warm affection that was given by Gurgaon and it's people. I am, indeed, humbled. Thank you."
Haryana government appointed 1995 batch IPS officer Sandeep Khirwar as Gurgaon police chief on Tuesday.
"I have full confidence that under the able leadership of my successor, Sandeep Khirwar, Gurgaon Police will reach even greater heights," Virk said.
