Nepal accords China priority in foreign policy

Beijing, Aug 17 (IANS) Nepal accords China a place of priority in its foreign relations and will strengthen coordination and cooperation with China, visiting Nepali Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said here on Wednesday.

Mahara, visiting here as a special envoy of new Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda", reiterated the new Nepal government's position during his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing, Xinhua news agency reported.

Mahara said Nepal will strengthen coordination and cooperation with China and implement all consensually reached accords between the two countries. It also abides by the one-China policy, he added.

Li said China appreciates the importance attached to relations by the new Nepali government.

China plans to expand bilateral cooperation in areas as trade, connectivity and infrastructure construction and to also help Nepal in natural disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction, Li added.
